On July 16, the URKL Global Humanoid Robot Free Combat League (URKL for short) officially held its opening match at the Shenzhen Nanshan Culture and Sports Center. The atmosphere at the venue was electric with non-stop excitement. The mechanical warriors "White Eagle" and "Matador" locked in close combat, drawing continuous applause from the audience. After five fiercely contested rounds, the dark-armored "Matador" won the match with a 3:2 score.




As the originator and main organizer of the event, the highlight for URKL is the real, full-scale humanoid robot T800 battles. By using the competitive platform to test technical prowess and connecting cutting-edge technology with public experience through the event ecosystem, URKL is helping China’s humanoid robotics industry reach new heights, injecting momentum into high-quality development within Chinese intelligent manufacturing. The metal fists, extreme offense and defense, and high-energy moments of these robots have sparked the hottest tech buzz in Shenzhen, the city of innovation, this summer.




With the start of the first URKL, URKL has become the world's first company to commercially operate a full-scale humanoid robot fighting league. Global Teams Gather in Shenzhen! URKL Opening Night Ignites the City of Innovation
Leaders from Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City, global partners, representatives from the top 32 teams, and hundreds of domestic and international media all gathered for the spectacular opening night of the first URKL. As the "kung fu master" who guided the T800, kung fu superstar Donnie Yen made a surprise appearance at the event, presenting awards to the "engineering masters"—URKL engineers who built and trained the T800—paying tribute to technical strength and innovation. Leading influencers, such as Bu Qi Dance Troupe, joined interactive activities, blending hardcore technology, traditional kung fu, and contemporary culture. Around the venue, there were also interactive robot experience zones, event-exclusive merchandise stands, and a robot café, creating an immersive space that combines tech competition, science education, and entertainment.

On opening night, URKL clarified the competition system and set the standard with a high-level live warm-up: two internal URKL teams faced off, showcasing the rules and judging standards through real, intense combat—a preview before the main battles begin. After the kickoff event, the first URKL qualifying rounds officially started. Over 200 teams worldwide registered for this event; after strict screening and preliminary qualifying, 32 teams advanced, coming from China, the US, Poland, Singapore, and more. The competition uses a blended format: "open selection + group double round robin + double elimination," requiring teams to go through four demanding stages—open selection, qualifying, group matches, and the grand final—to claim the championship.

Hardcore Mecha Face-off: T800 Excels in Both Intelligence and Strength
The URKL Global Humanoid Robot Free Combat League is a premier robotic sports event for universities, corporations, and research institutes worldwide. URKL champions open source, collaborative tech development, and fair competition, focusing on challenges like movement control, dynamic balance algorithms, perception and decision-making, and structural protection for humanoid robots.

The inaugural event uses URKL’s full-size T800 humanoid robots, giving all teams access to both software and hardware interfaces for secondary development. This open architecture lifts the "black box" limitations of traditional robots, decoupling algorithm iteration from hardware, accelerating improvements in vision-based perception, tactical decisions, and precise whole-body control, and boosting the robots’ combat abilities.

The URKL T800 stands 1.73 meters tall and uses real-time visual feedback for self-directed decision-making and instant action. Every punch synchronizes eye and hand, thanks to an explosive 450 N·m joint torque and advanced safety design, letting it deliver fast, powerful blows and perform dynamic moves like rising punches, spinning kicks, and quick recoveries from the ground. The all-metal shell is made of aerospace-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy, which provides strong impact resistance; centimeter-level positioning and high-precision direction recognition ensure the robot stays in control during intense battles.

The real challenge of full-size humanoid robot fighting isn’t just throwing a punch—it’s whether the robot can quickly and accurately sense changes in the opponent and environment during actual contact, and complete a full set of offense, defense, and recovery moves. Both sides must continuously track targets, anticipate opponent intentions, and decide when to attack, dodge, or counter in highly dynamic situations. This is no different from a match between two human experts, and relies on an agile, experienced AI “brain.” T800 now matches an adult male in physique and capability, and URKL is working to give this strong body an intelligent brain.

With real-time visual feedback powering a "perception-decision-execution" feedback loop, the T800 has evolved from being just a capable fighter to a smart tactical agent able to coordinate its whole body, unleash powerful dynamic moves, and self-recover.
